It is not customary for Latvians to decorate and serve dishes especially, even on a festive table. It is a rather strict and cold nation. But they have an impossible love for sweet desserts, which are very easy and simple to prepare at home from the most common well-known products.
This dessert is great for a holiday loved by everyone, regardless of nationality and country of residence, such as New Year's Eve.
The products that are necessary for the preparation of the national Latvian dessert - "Drunk" dried apricots and prunes:
1. Dried apricots – 150 g
2. Prunes – 150 g
3. Orange (grapefruit or lime) liqueur – 150 g
4. Mineral water, necessarily without gas – 200 g
5. High–calorie cream for whipping - 500 g
6. Black bitter chocolate – half a large bar – 45 g
The stages of cooking the national Latvian dessert - "Drunk" dried apricots and prunes:
1. Washed with plain cold water and scalded with boiling water, pour prunes and dried apricots in a small saucepan with mineral water, without gas, and add orange (grapefruit or lime) liqueur there. Cook over low heat for twelve minutes, stirring constantly. Cool it down. Remove the boiled dried fruits and cut into small cubes. Transfer in equal parts to two small glass bowls.
2. Beat the cream with a blender until it thickens.
3. Add dried apricots and prunes from one bowl to the whipped cream and mix with a mixer at medium speed. Put it in a transparent crematorium vase. On top of the whipped cream-fruit mixture in a vase, put the fruits from the second bowl in any order.
4. Grate the chocolate and sprinkle the dessert with the resulting chips.
5. Put it in the refrigerator for two to three hours before you need to serve the dessert.
This dessert can be prepared in portions according to the number of people who will eat it and serve it in a cocktail glass. This wonderful dessert is a great company for dry champagne. The drink and dessert perfectly set off each other's taste characteristics.
